State regulators tell utilities they need to pass federal tax savings on to consumers

Washington state utility regulators are requiring regulated companies to track federal tax savings from the recent federal tax changes so any savings will benefit utility customers. The 2017 federal tax overhaul reduced the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent. State law authorizes the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission to determine how much
